The Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS) Support group ensures that the clinical information and images required for the department of Radiology are stored appropriately, available to end users, and that the supporting clinical content is associate with the images to provide a comprehensive platform to allow for timely and accurate diagnosis.

The goal of the PACS team can be summarized by the goal of providing the right information to the right place at the right time. Image integration of New and Existing Modalities, system interfaces, appropriate access to information systems, first line networking issues, archival and retrieval of studies, and other functions ensure that the necessary information is accurate and timely.

Systems
There are several systems required to ensure that the required information is available through the department. PACS works in conjunction with Information Services to monitor and/or maintain the following systems and the information interconnections between the systems.

• Hospital Information System (HIS) Siemens A2K
• Scheduling System GE Scheduling
• Radiology Information System (RIS) RadPlus
• PACS Agfa IMPAX
• PACSWeb Agfa Web1000
• Clinical Results Repository WebCIS
• Voice Recognition Agfa Talk Technology
• Advanced Visualization TeraRecon Aquarius

Image Data
The PACS team is responsible for integrating new and existing modalities in the PACS so that images are delivered in an accurate state. The functions provided by the team include network optimization, DICOM connectivity, Image Verification, Image Routing, and Archival.
