The UNCH Diagnostic ultrasound department is accredited by the American College of Radiology. This can be verified thru their website www.acr.org. Sonographers must successfully meet the guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ultrasound staff must successfully obtain their credentials and maintain continuing educational credits annually. Our department is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day. The UNCH Diagnostic ultrasound department services include but not limited to: Adult and Pediatric Abdominal, Pelvic, Abdominal Transplant, Abdominal Duplex, Small Parts, Acute First Trimester OB, Echoencephalograms, Endovaginal, and Transrectal exams). We also offer a variety of interventional procedures such as abdominal biopsies and fluid aspirations. We also have extended our services to provide outpatient care at the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).
Types of Equipment: Our department stays current with new technology and provides state of the art equipment. The imaging equipment utilized is the Siemens S2000 and Sequoia 512, Phillips IU22, and the Aloka.

One can earn CME credits by going through the training modules and completing the test at the end. At the moment we are developing new presentations as the previous ones have expired. The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography® (ARDMS®), incorporated in June 1975, is an independent, nonprofit organization that administers examinations and awards credentials in the areas of diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic cardiac sonography, vascular interpretation and vascular technology.
