Diagnostic

The Diagnostic Radiology department here at UNC Health Care is composed of several different areas located throughout the hospital as well as off campus locations. Through the healthcare system there are seven distinct areas of service.
These areas include:
Neuroscience X-ray; located in the basement of the Neuroscience hospital, is responsible for performing radiographs on all the emergency room patients brought to the department as well as performing portable exams in the emergency room and throughout the neuroscience hospital inpatient floors 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Adult X-ray; located in the basement of the Women’s Hospital, is responsible for performing radiographs on inpatients that are transported to the department as well as outpatients that visit our department from outside the hospital. In addition to the plain films, this area also performs fluoroscopic procedures of all body systems. This area is open Mon-Fri 7:30am – 4:30pm.
Pediatric X-ray; located in the basement of the Children’s Hospital, is dedicated to our pediatric population. Here we perform many of the same procedures as adult X-ray in a more child friendly environment. This area is open Mon-Fri 7:30am – 4:30pm.
Portable X-ray; located on the 2nd floor of the Anderson Pavilion. This area is responsible for performing all types of radiographic procedures at the patient’s bedside 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
ACC X-ray; located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Ambulatory Care Center building on Mason Farm Rd. This area services the orthopedic clinic as well as various other clinics.
Family Practice X-ray; located on Manning dr. just a few blocks from the main hospital. This area provides service to the UNC Family Medicine group, an outpatient facility that cares for patients of all ages.
Carolina Pointe II X-ray; located on the first floor of the medical park building on Farrinigton Rd. near the corner of Hwy 54 & I40. This area provides service to the Rheumatology & Surgery Oncology clinics as well as patients from outside physician offices.
